Finding the Best Pages on a Website to Get Links From
Here's a great tip from Jim Boykin, Internet marketing specialist. Must-have information for anyone doing link building... How do you find the pages on someone's website that would be best to ask for a link to your site on? There are really two different types of pages you should look for.
First, look for the page on their site that is most relevant to the page on your site that you are seeking a link to. To find this page, go to Google and search for:
site:[theirsite.com] [keyword phrase][keyword phrase] is the phrase that you are trying to optimize your own page for, and the top result here will give you the page on their site that ranks most highly for this particular keyword phrase. In other words, it will show you which of their pages is most relevant to your page. Bingo!
Second, look for the page on their site that has the most "power" (sometimes called "trust rank" or "quality indicators"). To find a particular website's most powerful page, go to Yahoo and search for:
site:[theirsite.com]Yahoo tends to list pages in order of importance, so the "most powerful" pages will display at the top of these results. Sometimes the most powerful page of a website will be an inner page, rather than the home page. Wherever it is, it's a good page to get your link on.
