DHTML - what is it? DHTML is an acronym for "Dynamic HTML." The next generation of HTML, DHTML is used in combination with HTML (Hypertext Markup Language). Essentially, what DHTML does, is that it helps to make HTML pages dynamic!

Using a combination of HTML, Cascading Style Sheets and JavaScript, DHTML can tremendously aid web creators in their website development. DHTML allows the control of how to display and place HTML components into a browser window.

Terms often associated with DHTML include HTML, CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), DOM (Document Object Model) and JavaScript. Enabling the control of appearance, layers, and other web development elements, DHTML helps to place elements and headings in relative and absolute positions. For example, if one would like to have an element positioned on the left-hand side of a web page, specific DHTML coding would allow for this to occur. Or, if a web developer wants to add a unique watermark or background to his site, DHTML enables him to create a background that either scrolls or doesn't scroll along with the rest of a web page.
