Natural Language Processing (NLP)

What is natural language processing? Natural language processing is part of science that is associated with the collection, manipulation, storage, retrieval and classification of recorded information; it is normally referred to by its acronym "NLP," but it is also known by its pseudonym "computational linguistics."

A major part of artificial intelligence, NLP analyzes, comprehends and produces the human language so that (human) verbal and printed dialogue may be interfaced with computers as opposed to computer language.

In NLP, computers are virtually taught to learn the same language contexts that humans learn. Major tasks that natural language processing undertakes include text to speech; speech recognition; natural language generation; machine translation; question answering; information retrieval; information extraction; text-proofing; translation technology and automatic summarization.

In general, NLP enables users to enter normal questions in human language, instead of keywords; thus allowing for better overall understanding.
