Reciprocal Link

Reciprocal linking is one of the well known Search Engine Optimization strategies to help elevate your site for specific keywords on top search engines. Reciprocal links is an excellent way to establish a link directory on your site that lists important sites related to the theme of your website.

The technical term of a reciprocal link is an agreement between webmasters to provide a link to each other's web site. Generally this is done to provide readers with quick access to related sites, or to show a partnership between two important sites of the same topic. One site might offer more useful information than the other. Reciprocal links can also help to increase traffic to your web site in two ways. First you will probably have some viewers visit your site from clicking the reciprocal link directly. Secondly, most Internet search engines also take into account the number of web sites which contain links to your site, also known as backlinks; the more links back to your site are found, the higher up in the serach engine rankings you'll find your site with specific keywords.

Example: Say you want your page about the care of cats to be listed on the first page of a search engine like Google, for the keyword phrase "care of cats". You would want to find sites that are related to cats to reciprocate links with. When they agree, you give them your reciprocal link information that generally includes your sites title, your URL, and a brief description of what you offer. It is very important to include the keyword phrase you want optimized within the site title or the description AS A LINK.
