Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Commonly referred to as SEO, search engine optimization is the course of action that is taken to enhance websites for search engines so to rank higher in search engine results. When a site ranks higher in search results, the greater chances that more traffic will be directed to that site.

Typically, proper search engine optimization techniques ensure that search engines will be able to quickly locate websites for search queries and drive traffic to those sites. The effective route to take would be to implement several items such as relevant keyword meta tags; integration of linkable content; appropriate keywords and keyword density; link building and/or buying strategies; and general website structure.

Undoubtedly, some web designers will create awesome websites and then wonder why they're not generating any traffic. SEO doesn't have to be a dirty word if you carefully lay out an organized plan that defines and tackles each angle, one at a time.

Some points you may wish to examine:
  • Does your site contain rich content?
  • Do you have inbound links?
  • Are you using too many stop or filter words?
  • Is your anchor text relevant?
  • Are you employing applicable keywords?
  • Is your site associated with a link farm?
  • Do you have an easy-to-navigate website?
  • Do you have a themed website?
