Save on Google AdWords
Are you spending thousands of dollars per month on Google AdWords? If so, you should consider the savings potential of attaining a top-10 organic Google ranking.

A recent study by Eyetools, Inc., a company that provides "eyetracking analysis" software and services, is a real "eye opener". Eyetools conducted a study of 50 people in their eye tracking lab in San Francisco. The survey showed how much "visibility" each area of the Google search results page really has.

The small photo at the left contains the results of the survey. You can click on the photo and open up a PDF file containing a larger image for more detailed information. The colors on the page, which range from red to orange to yellow to green to blue to black, indicate the percentage of those looking at the page who actually "see" that area. Areas is red (with a visibility of 100%) are seen by virtually everyone who looks at the page, areas in green (with a visibility of 50%) are seen by about half of the people who look at the page, and so on.

The percentage of participants looking at each organic result (natural search results on the left side of the page) were found to be:
Rank 1 100%
Rank 2 100%
Rank 3 100%
Rank 4 85%
Rank 5 60%
Rank 6 50%
Rank 7 50%
Rank 8 30%
Rank 9 30%
Rank 10 20%
The percentage of participants looking at each AdWords ad (on the right side of the page) were found to be:
Rank 1 50%
Rank 2 40%
Rank 3 30%
Rank 4 20%
Rank 5 10%
Rank 6 10%
Rank 7 10%
Rank 8 10%

What does this mean to you?
If you're paying big bucks for the top ranked AdWords ad, you could get the same amount of traffic FOR FREE if you were ranked at #6 or #7 in the organic listings. If you can get an organic ranking higher than #6, you'll get EVEN MORE traffic FOR FREE than you're getting now from your expensive #1 ranked AdWords ad.

If you're paying for the #4 ranked AdWords ad, you can get the same traffic OR MORE FOR FREE with an organic search result ANYWHERE in the top 10 (i.e., on the first page of Google results).
And there's more... Organic results (natural rankings on the left side of the page) can generate as much as 5 times the traffic to your site as AdWord ads. People have come to trust organic searches to return relevant results, and they know that the ads on the right side of the page are sponsored ads. Not only are the organic results "seen" more often than AdWords ads, but when they are seen they are clicked more often.
